Timeless Travel Tips

Posted on Wed, Apr 20, 2011

Over the past week I have been driving, flying, and moving all around the place. Traveling to meet family for birthdays in Las Vegas, celebrating Passover in Los Angeles, meetings in San Diego and then back to Vegas to celebrate Easter and scout out a couple new editorial projects. With all these places to be and people to see, I got to thinking about travel tips and what to wear when you’re on the go.
When driving anywhere for longer than 2 hours, I recommend wearing something that is comfortable- yoga pants, tee shirts, flip-flops, and sweaters. It’s all about comfort when you’re in the car and most likely alone, or with someone you are close enough to stomach for longer than 2 hours in a confined space (if you are close enough for that, than you are close enough to wear lounge clothes).
Yet, flying on a commercial plane is a whole different story. There are so many factors to consider- security strip-downs, walking/running, little cups with no lids that can spill at any moment, and chilly circulated air. So with all that in consideration- I suggest wearing shoes that are easy to pull off- pumps or flats (avoid boots at all cost), darker colors, and layers.
While being a mile high, you don’t want to wear anything too light- spills and stains are much too easy to come by while traveling. It is also important to take into consideration the seasons during which you are traveling. During the summer and warmer months, wear jersey fabricsto avoid a wrinkled look. Try skinny jeans and tee’s with scarves and cardigans to fight off any super cold circulated air. And during the colder months, layering is your best friend. I suggest leggings with long sweaters, scarves, hats, and trenches.
It’s almost natural to dress incognito while traveling, but if you have to be seen, take my tips from above to ensure only the most stylish adventures abroad.

Amy
