As the weekend approaches and plans between friends, lovers, and acquaintances solidify, a breath of ease begins to roll over the city (here in San Diego, and others around the world). The feeling of calm turns to excitement as the 7 o’clock hour approaches on a Friday evening. Reservations are made, dresses are bought, perfume is spritzed and a chance to find something new, something exhilarating becomes real. Flowers make an appearance, champagne begins to flow and the hopes of a first kiss begin to swirl in the atmosphere. Sure, this sounds like some kind of fantasy world, but it once was a reality that went by the name “Romance”. Now days a girl is lucky to get a door opened or a hand held.

        Today’s blog is a tribute to a Romantic Rendezvous of sorts. A true ode to wishful thinking and even more wistful dressing. Yet as I look through my own closet, filled with clothes that would make any romantic rendezvous complete, I wonder if romance is truly dead, or if there are a few lone gentleman gracing the sidelines of life, waiting to unleash this magic? It’s a discussion I’ve had several times with myself and friends- the realization that reality may be void of flowers, champagne, love letters, and slow dancing. And the real issue with all of this is the loss of getting dressed up and looking one’s best to make a perfect first impression.

       And with that, I dedicate this blog to the romantic’s out there. On the sidelines or not, I thank you. Thank you for the feeling you inevitably give your intended and please don’t be jaded by the sometimes ungratefulness that can be met with such shock.
