Green a Hit at the Golden Globes
Posted on Tue, Jan 18, 2011Just like the show-stopping performances put forth this year by the film industry, fashion was at its best too for one of the biggest nights in Hollywood, THE GOLDEN GLOBES. While watching the red carpet last night I was stunned by the truly amazing fashion choices put forth by our leading ladies on the big screen. While everyone seems to agree that Anne Hathaway was BEST dressed in her Armani Prive rose gold sequined gown, I had a different choice for my best dressed lady, Miss Mila Kunis. Her floor-length Vera Wang gown was absolutely stunning and placed her perfectly as a poised and serious actress- a role we haven’t seen from her “That 70′s Show” days and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”. Her role in Black Swan was crucial in aiding in this beautiful transformation. My other top pick was Olivia Wilde in Marchesa. Not only is this woman drop dead gorgeous, but she dresses extremely well. I thought this dress was perfectly placed at an event like the Globes.

Worst Dressed was pretty obvious: Helena Bonham Carter in Vivenne Westwood and mis-matched red and green shoes, Christina Aguilera in a too tight Zuhair Murad, J-Lo also in Zuhair Murad, Jenna Ushkowitz in a WAY too ruffled mess by Rebecca Taylor, January Jones in head-to-toe Versace- she did the red trend right but the cut-out trend wrong (this is clearly a Versace runway dress that is meant for the runway and not the red carpet… way too much cleavage for such a classy affair as well), and last but not least Natalie Portman. Although she won best actress for her role in Black Swan, the star has struggled to dress well during pregnancy with her first child. The color was on trend (a blush amber tone seen on a ton of other actresses throughout the night) but the red flower, depicting the designer Viktor & Rolf, was all wrong and distracted viewers from her beautiful facial glow.

As far as trends are concerned… the ladies led with reds and blush tones, greens, and nudes as the best colors of the night. Few were dressed in traditional black (Eva Longoria and Giuliana Rancic- both looked demure and poised but nothing special) or white (Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad which was ruined by the sheer overlay). Green was truly the show stopper of the night. With envy on Mila, Angie, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Elisabeth Moss. The darker shade worn on Kunis, Zeta-Jones, and Moss was my favorite. I think green is on a big comeback, especially with four of hollywood’s hottest showing off the trend.
Overall, the Globes were amazing and fashion was definitely a very welcomed guest on the red carpet and throughout the night.
